This is the Elder Abuse Prevention Training presented by the State of Nevada Aging & Disability Services Division

Elder abuse is an under recognized problem with devastating and even life threatening consequences.

Every day, headlines throughout the U.S. paint a grim picture of seniors who have been abused, neglected, and exploited, often by people they trust the most. Abusers may be spouses, family members, personal acquaintances, or professionals in positions of trust; or opportunistic strangers who prey on the vulnerable.

 This video discusses the four types of elder abuse, provides case examples and discusses the signs of elder abuse.



Part 2: Characteristics of Abusive Caregivers


Characteristics of Abusive Caregivers

This video provides the learner with information to recognize the signs of abusive caretakers and gives facts on elder abuse.  The training is concluded with an overview of the Nevada Elder Abuse Law including reporting a suspicion of crime, mandated reporters and the role of ADSD in elder abuse cases.
